Political Cartoon 7

  • The caption of this political cartoon would be " Republican Budget Cut". These words are being used to describe the recent budget cut in our country that almost lead to a government shut down. In this cartoon, there are a plane with a sign says republican budget, and two guys that falling out of the plane. Those two guys on the political cartoon are seniors and poor. Basically, this cartoon is trying to say that under the republican budget, the seniors and poor are not exist and they are be thrown out of the topic since the Republicans are trying to cut all the programs that support them. During class discussion, we also talk about how the budget cut would affect us as a whole and if the government shut down what part of the system would be closed and what part would still open. The message the artist wants to send is that " Republicans need to work things out better and care for the elders and the poor too instead of being selfish and only care about the rich".

Political Cartoon 6

This political cartoon doesn't have a title but the caption says "southwest airlines is pleased to announce there will be no additional fee for outdoor seating" and I think the political cartoon itself has to do with the southwest airline incident. In this cartoon, there is a southwest airline plane, smoke, passengers and the top of the airplane is flying off. This emphasizes the lack of care of the airline systems with the planes. They should have checked the plane carefully before it takes off. They basically neglect their passengers. It seems like all they care about nowadays is money. The passengers really risk their life on these incidents. During class, we would also talk about the system of companies and the hardships and incidents that they have to deal with. The artist is trying to mock the southwest airline because of their lack of care.

Political Cartoon 5

1. I think the caption for this political cartoon would be "UHF band message from Oslo - they want their Peace Prize back." These words are being used to  describe the cartoon because the artist wants to emphasize Obama's decision to attack Libya.
2. There are three missiles, a plane and two soldiers. It seems like Obama was the pilot that sits in the front. The artist is trying to illustrate the fact that Obama was supposed to stop all the wars but instead his involvement with them has recently increased.
3. In this cartoon, the three missiles and the plan are flying on the air. Obama is sitting on the front as if he was the pilot. The soldier that sitting behind him is on the phone is trying to tell Obama that Oslo wants their Peace Prize back.
4. This cartoon is trying to say that Obama is making a wrong decision by attacking Libya and he doesn't deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. I think the ideological perspective that represented by the cartoonist would be liberal because a liberal Democratic would wants to stop all the wars and maintain the peace.
5. Well, this cartoon is basically represents the recent attack on Libya under the Obama Administration. During class, we would also mention about Obama never really goes to Congress and tell them to declare war. He just basically went to Libya and attack them.
6. The satire of this cartoon would how Obama supposed to maintain the peace and be the guy that would gives the citizens some hope therefore he won the Peace Prize. However, after his decision to attack Libya I think people were kind of disappointed in him. They also think he doesn't really deserve the Peace Prize

Political Cartoon 4

Cartoon by John Cole -

1.     The title for this cartoon would be Tom Corbett’s budget cuts in Pennsylvania. Those words are being used because the artist wants to mention about the budget cut in Pennsylvania.
2.     In this cartoon, there is a fat man in diaper, stroller, candies, Tom Corbett, a schoolgirl and a book. I think the artist is trying to say that Tom Corbett is focusing on the shale drillers than education because he doesn’t want to tax them to make a profit instead he wants to cut down the budget on education.
3.     There is a fat man in diaper that acts like a baby. He is also eating candies and Tom Corbett is pushing him around in a stroller and also kicking a little schoolgirl around at the same time.
4.     The ideological perspective is represented by the cartoonist would be liberal. He thinks that Tom Corbett is being conservative and wants less government regulation on businesses. While on the other hand, he doesn’t really care about our kids’ future and doesn’t want to focus on education.
5.     This cartoon is relates to the Tom Corbett’s budget cuts plan. In class, we also talk about budget cuts and how it would affect the students as a whole. By cutting the budget, it would lead to an increase in college tuitions, less grants and scholarships.
6.     The fat baby in diaper represents the businesses such as shale drillers and how they making a lot of money by not paying tax and using up all the resources.

Political Cartoon 3

Petar Pismestrovic (http://www.cagle.com/news/NuclearCrisis11/2.asp)

  • 1.     The captions of this cartoon would be Hiroshima 1945 and Fukushima 2011. Those words are being used to describe the nuclear bombing in Hiroshima during 1945 and once again Japan has to face with another nuclear radiation in 2011 in Fukushima due to earthquake and tsunami.
  • 2.     In this cartoon, there is a man sitting down, the mushroom cloud, destructive houses and buildings, smokes. The artist is trying to describe what Japan has to go through during 1945 and 2011.
  • 3.     The man in this cartoon is sitting down and holding his head. He looks very depressed and miserable. Everything around him is destroyed. There are a lot of smokes and signs of radiation.
  • 4.     The artist is trying to say that once again Japan has to go through another crisis and it is really depressing the country and the world as a whole.
  • 5.     This cartoon illustrates the tsunami and earthquake that occurred in Japan recently. The tsunami and earthquake really affected the Japan’ economy and they also affected the stock market.
  • 6.     Even though all these things happened in Japan, it still affected the world as a whole. Therefore, everybody should come together and help Japan out of this crisis.

Political Cartoon 2

1.     I can’t really find the caption or the title of this political cartoon but I think the title of this political cartoon would be something like Liberty in Libya? The reason why those words are being used to describe this cartoon because the picture is basically demonstrates the Libyan is trying to restore liberty.
2.     In this cartoon, the Statue of Liberty represents liberty. There is a sign that says Libya, and the people on that side are restoring the Statue of Liberty. While, on the other side Khadafy is stuck and he is trying to get out. I think the artist is trying to say that if Libyans can gain their liberty than Khadafy would not be content since he would lose all this power and wealth.
3.     In the cartoon, the Libyan are trying to restore the Statue of Liberty while Khadafy is stuck and definitely not happy about it.
4.     The message of this cartoon would be Libyans are trying to gain their liberty like Egyptians. The ideological perspective of this cartoon would be liberal because Libyans want things to be modernized.
5.     Well, this cartoon is basically demonstrates the civil right war in Libya. During class, we also talked about the chaos in Libya and Egypt and how it affects our country.
6.     In this cartoon, the Libyans are trying to restore the Statue of Liberty, which means they want to have as much freedom as possible like Americans and they want to overthrow their president.

Political Cartoon 1

1. The cartoon title is "Oil Price". These words are being used to describe the cartoon because the author wanted to illustrate the oil price.
2. The cartoon shows the price on the vertical side while and a barrel of oil that busting out oil is on the horizontal size. The artist is trying to shows the rapid change in oil price.
3. In the cartoon, there aren't really any movements or actions at all. The people just stand around the barrel of the oil and they also look helpless. One of them seem shocked about the rapid change in oil price.
4. The cartoon is trying to say that the price of oil is increasing and people really don't know what to do to solve the problem. Therefore they just stand around and wait for it to decrease and act like it's not their fault. It seems like this cartoon is not based on any ideological perspective.
5. This cartoon is related to the chaos in Libya because as the Libya's oil industry is in chaos, the prices also increased. During class discussion, we also talked about Libya and the price of oil. We also play the stock market game and I invested some money on the oil industry and the prices definitely increased since last week.
6. Well, it seems like the price is increasing rapidly and there isn't any signs of slowing down and people are just incapable of solving this problem.
